📢Podtrac's Report: iOS 17 Shift Causes 19% Drop in Yearly Podcast Download Numbers. Podtrac attributes the 15% drop in global downloads for the top 20 publishers between October and November and 19% drop from a year ago to iOS 17 changes.

📢  Political Advertising to Contribute $10.2 Billion to US Advertising Growth, Dentsu Reports. Densu raised its 2024 U.S. ad forecast from 5.4% to 5.8% to $316.4 billion after a tough 2023. The year-over-year increase was $17.3 billion. Political advertising will contribute $10.2 billion to that increase with a presidential election. Up from $9.0 billion in 2020 presidential election.

📢 Taylor Swift's Magic Touch Boosts Boyfriend's Podcast to New Heights in 2023! In the ever-changing podcast world, one show has been rising rapidly among U.S. weekly podcast listeners. Edison Podcast Metrics™ data shows a significant increase in listening to the podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” in the past two months. The show's weekly reach among 13-and-older podcast listeners has increased four-and-a-half times since Travis's romance with Taylor Swift became public.

Because podcasting is an English-language medium, shows in that language have always predominated, but the popularity of other languages is growing due to a combination of factors such as population growth, technological advancements, and possibly even armed conflict.

The number of podcasts overall is expected to increase by 23% in 2023, so we thought it would be interesting to look into which languages are changing the most.

A language that saw a sharp uptrend during the previous five years is currently lagging behind. Come on, let's get started!

Rephonic's extensive podcast database is the source of all of this information. To determine growth rates, we counted the total number of podcasts at the end of each year. We also extrapolated current numbers to 2023 by a small amount. (CONTINUE READING)

  • Westwood One will be led by Cumulus Media EVP of Corporate Strategy & Development Collin Jones starting January 1, 2024. He succeeds Suzanne Grimes, who left after eight years.

  • AdLarge announced today Tom Brady has joined the company’s sales force. In this new role, Brady will work directly with EVP of Audio Sales, Robin Sloan.

  • Rachel Williamson was elevated by Audacy to the position of President of Local Sales Strategy and Innovation, from Regional President. Williamson will answer to Chief Revenue Officer Brian Benedik in the newly created role.

  • Albert Rodriguez, the president and COO of Spanish Broadcasting System, announced his resignation from the company late on Thursday morning during the company's Q3 earnings call for 2023. The sudden action takes place at a time when SBS is already experiencing turmoil.

  • At the end of March, Spotify's chief revenue officer, Paul Vogel, will be leaving the company. Following a third round of layoffs that affected Spotify earlier this week, the announcement was made.

  • After five years, Denise Viltola, who oversaw social media, PR, and influencer marketing at Bayer, announced her departure. She is still deciding what to do next.

  • Jeff Howard will succeed James Warburton as Seven West Media's managing director and CEO, according to Seven West Media Chairman Kerry Stokes AC.

The Sisters, starring Mae Whitman (Good Girls, Parenthood), and Blood Forest, starring Jack Falahee (How to Get Away with Murder), are two notable previous seasons. Blood Forest peaked at number one on the charts.
