  • Apple Podcasts continues to be our preferred podcast platform, according to the Podnews Report Card revealed during Podcast Movement Evolutions presented by James Cridland.

  • Audacy Podcasts and Paper Kite Podcasts are launching “Million Dollar Advice,” a weekly work and career advice podcast hosted by Kim Lessing and Kate Arend, friends, colleagues, and Paper Kite's Co-Heads of Film and Television.

We do a lot of brand lift studies on branded podcasts, with about half of them being B2B podcasts.

Some of these B2B podcasts target the executives at large organizations who can influence multi-million-dollar decisions.

One of those brands recently contacted us to understand more about how to reach C-Suite podcast listeners (or the executives knocking on the door of the C-Suite) with their shows. Who exactly are these listeners?  What kind of podcasts do they listen to? What are they looking for from podcasts? Where do they listen? How do they listen?

Luckily, we knew where to look.

Every year, we conduct more than 12,000 surveys among adult podcast listeners in the US for Triton Digital. The primary purpose is to support the Triton Digital Podcast Metrics Demos+ service, modeling detailed audience profiles for thousands of podcasts by combining Triton’s download data with more than 100 demographic and other audience profile data points from our surveys.

A helpful side benefit of working with such a large survey sample is that it allows us to get a close-up look at some very specific audience segments – like  corporate executives for example [ by Jeff Vidler of Signal Hill Insights ]

Host-read ads are podcasting's golden goose, boosting marketers' returns and networks' CPMs. A new study shows that talent reads can be effective even when the podcast's host isn't speaking, which could open more shows to host-read ads. The analysis shows that a host-read ad on a similar podcast can boost brand results. Gumball, Art19, Signal Hill Insights, and Impact Theory host Tom Bilyeu tested host-read ads. The adjacent Business & Careers podcast Accidental Creative and the neutral podcast Factually! featured his host-read Stamps.com ad. It also made an announcer-read ad. The study then compared the two ads and a control group that didn't hear any ads among 800 monthly podcast listeners aged 25–54. The results showed how powerful host-read ads are. 🎧 Media Disco Launches First Advertising Marketplace that Harnesses the Massive Collective Buying Power of Mid-Sized Brands

The self-serve ad buying platform has been launched by Media Disco, the first advertising marketplace to leverage the combined purchasing power of mid-market brands. The new platform democratises access and takes advantage of group buying opportunities to level the playing field for small and medium-sized brands (SMBs) in the $250 billion US advertising market.

“There’s a huge imbalance in the media buying landscape, meaning not all advertisers are empowered to participate equally. Brands spending more than five million dollars in media each year only make up 22% of the market, yet they get the best buying opportunities. Small and medium-sized brands make up most of the market, but they’re finding themselves locked out,” said Media Disco Co-Founder and Techstars Alum James Allen.

Media Disco addresses this big gap in the market by providing access to the best adtech, streamlining a complex media buying process and making it possible for brands to buy into media programs collectively to unlock better deals.”

The opportunity is sizeable: in the US alone, there are more than 32 million active small businesses and 75% use at least two marketing channels to promote products and services, with nearly 70% of SMB owners planning to increase online advertising in the next two years.
