🎙️PRX Announces Season 2 of Movement with Meklit Hadero

PRX will launch its Season 2 popular podcast Movement with Meklit Hadero on July 16, 2024.

It is the transmedia storytelling program that pairs migration and music: the movement embodies a podcast, syndicated amongst more than 200 radio stations, a radio show broadcast on PRX's The World to the 2.5M listeners, and a series of live events that bring the conversation to life in front of audiences. Meklit takes her momentum from her refugee background and the urge to shape new migration narratives articulated from the most affected. Learn to celebrate the diversity of immigrant experiences: with joy, curiosity, ancestral wisdom, epiphany—but also with trauma, troubled times, and pain.

In the second season, Meklit focuses on human-centric stories of migration, cultural power across borders in 12 episodes.

Meklit refers to it as "the bumping soundtrack to a radically diverse world." Guest artists this season include Indian Carnatic singer Sid Sriram, experimental indie-pop electro-Caribbean band Buscabulla, and award-winning bilingual musician Helado Negro.

Meklit is an Ethiopian-American vocalist, composer, and cultural activist who just dropped a six-song EP this month about inner landscapes called Ethio Blue. She recorded Ethio Blue with GRAMMY-winning songwriter/producer Dan Wilson. It boasts both her most personal songwriting and Ethio Jazz-inspired grooves.

Meklit's Movement Immigrant Orchestra will perform live on the Great Lawn of Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, CA, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, following up her new podcast season.
